Glamorous blonde hair mask

It’s true; blondes do have more fun! But often we use harmful products to get those beach-blonde locks. This recipe uses all- natural ingredients that will nourish the hair instead of destroying it’s natural oils. So are you ready for an easy at-home recipe for gorgeous hair? I hope so!DSCN3013

Ingredients:

  • 1 large grated raw potato
  • 2 chamomile tea bags
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 crushed vitamin c tablet
  • 2 lemon segments (or 1 tsp lemon juice)

Method:

  1. Add the potato, honey, cinnamon, vitamin c tablet (crushed) and lemon segments to a blender
  2. Soak the chamomile tea bags in 1 tbsp boiling water for 2 minutes
  3. After 2 mins, add the tea water to the blender and open up the 2 tea bags, also add to blender
  4. Blitz this mixture altogether until a smooth paste forms
  5. Pour into a bowl and apply to hair (Can be dry or wet). Massage into scalp
  6. Leave this on for 15 – 20 minutes, then rinse with hot water

As we know most of the active agents in beauty, healthcare and remedial products come from plants, I have decided to make up a guide to all the weird and wonderful properties of common plants to help you to make your decisions on which products to use. Best ever brownies!

One of my favourite desserts to whip up when I need to get my chocolatey fix, these brownies are simple to make yet taste so good. I hope you enjoy my recipe and add your own little touches 🙂

Ingredients:DSCN2754

  • 50g Cocoa powder
  • 100g Plain flour (I used spelt, but it doesn’t matter)
  • 100g butter / baking fat
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 50g sugar
  • 1/2 can of condensed milk (180g or so)
  • 100g chocolate
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence / grated vanilla

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180oC fan / 190oC regular
  2. Cream the butter and sugar in a bowl until pale and fluffy
  3. Add in the egg yolks and mix
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form
  5. Add the flour, cocoa powder and baking soda to the butter mixture
  6. Melt the chocolate in the microwave, then add to the butter mixture along with the condensed milk
  7. Stir to combine
  8. Finally, slowly fold in the whisked egg whites into the butter mixture until it is combined
  9. Pour into an oiled deep tray and cook in the oven for 35 minutes

When they are cooked, prick with a fork to see if they need a few more minutes. If not, cut into slices and place on a plate. Dust with some icing sugar or cocoa powder for a nice finish.

Makeup setting spray

In shops, this product usually comes at a hefty price tag. But once you read the ingredients on the bottle you can see that it is made from simple, cheap ingredients. Here’s my cheap alternative to the classic spray-

Ingredients:DSCN2742

  • 3 tbsp Rose water (Easy to make at home, or buy in any health/Asian food shop)
  • 1 tbsp Aloe Vera gel
  • 1 tsp Vitamin E oil / 3 capsules
  • 1 drop of your favourite essential oil (optional)
  • 1 drop Argan oil (optional, I don’t use it)
  • Spray bottle

Method:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a spray bottle
  2. Mix with the straw of the bottle
  3. Spray onto face from a 30cm distance
  4. Allow to air dry!
  5. For best results, leave in fridge when not in use and shake well before application

Luscious lip balm

Lip balm is an essential in daily life if you want smooth, soft lips. Daily, our lips are battered from the weather, the food we eat and from biting them. They need a little TLC to nourish them! Here’s my recipe-

Ingredients:DSCN2700

  • 2 tbsp Beeswax
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1 drop Tea Tree oil
  • Essential oil / flavouring of your choice
  • Food colouring

Method:

  1. If your beeswax is in sheet form, cut it up into little pieces with a knife, until it fills 2 tbsp
  2. Add to a bowl over hot water and turn to a low heat, allow to melt
  3. Add the coconut oil to the bowl and mix until combined
  4. Pour in tea tree oil, stir
  5. While still on the heat, add a few drops of flavouring and food colouring, mix to combine
  6. Pour mixture into silicone cups / a silicone mini muffin tray
  7. Leave to cool and harden for 10 minutes
  8. Apply to lips and enjoy!
